VITA and TCE Tax Program Schedule, February-April 2010
Individuals who wish to do their own taxes without assistance may utilize the Special Beehive Portal for the City of Sacramento. This site allows taxpayers to complete federal and up to 2 state returns for free, electronically file and have their refund directly deposited in their account. This service is provided through the City of Sacramento Volunteer Program in partnership with the Beehive and One Economy. To access the portal, please visit The Beehive. Income is limited to a maximum of $58,000 for 2009 in order to file for free.
Super Sites:
Special one-day free tax preparation events for those earning $49,000 or less in 2009 are scheduled for January 30, 31, February 6, 7, and 13 at area organizations and schools. In addition to free tax preparation, free and reduced-cost child care information will be available, children’s activities, free and reduced-cost health insurance for children, discounted utility programs and language assistance in Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Hmong and Vietnamese will be provided. VITA and TCE Tax Sites:
Those with incomes of $49,000 or less for 2009 qualify for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). VITA volunteers will help prepare federal and state taxes. This program is a collaboration of the City of Sacramento and the IRS. It is possible to also qualify for additional credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Care Credit and more, which could increase the refund amount. The following Community Centers will have volunteers able to help. Please call the preferred location for more information.

In addition to the VITA program, the Hart Senior Center serves as a Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) site. This site serves those age 50 and up and services are available from February 1 to April 15 on weekday mornings. Phone: (916) 808-5462 for an appointment.
