What is Sustainability?
Sustainability is a broad term that generally means living within the means of what the earth can provide over the long-term.
A sustainable society meets the need of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
All over the world, governments, organizations, and private citizens are looking for new ways to deal with the challenges that
lie ahead. Cities can meet these challenges by shaping the built environment (including development patterns, building design,
transportation and other infrastructure) and providing services such as water delivery and solid waste, in a way that protects
the environment, is economically viable, and equitably distributed and/or applied. |
