These pages have been prepared to help guide you through the election process as a voter, as a potential candidate for office, and as a resident of the City of Sacramento. These web pages also provide information pertaining to potential and/or approved ballot measures.
Election Information & Dates:
June 8, 2010 Primary Election - Offices
- Nomination Period Opens: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 (Offices Closed Feb. 15-Presidents Day)
- Candidates may begin filing papers including
- Nomination Petition (20-30 valid signatures)
- Statement of Economic Interests Form 700
- Acceptance/Rejection of Public Financing
- Candidate Statement

- Materials are available free of charge at the City Clerk's Office (by appointment)
- Final Filing Day: Friday, March 12, 2010 by 4:30 p.m. at the City Clerk's Office
- If incumbent does not file by March 12, 2010, deadline for that office extends to
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 by 4:30 p.m.
- Last Day to Register - May 24, 2010

- Government Accountability and Charter Reform Measure of 2009 (Strong Mayor) (view document)

- Approved for placement on June 2010 ballot by City Council on August 6, 2009.
- Measure to be called to ballot in January of 2010.
